A Pivotal Model for the (1 + 1)-Dimensional Heisenberg and Sigma Models
An integrable interpolative (Pivotal) model for the (1 + 1)-dimensional Hyperbolic Heisenberg and Hyperbolic sigma models is proposed and some solutions classifiable by an integer winding number examined.
متن کاملThe Hyperbolic Heisenberg and Sigma Models in (1+1)-dimensions
Hyperbolic versions of the integrable (1+1)-dimensional Heisenberg Ferromagnet and sigma models are discussed in the context of topological solutions classifiable by an integer ‘winding number’. Some explicit solutions are presented and the existence of certain classes of such winding solutions examined.
متن کاملSolitons in 1+1 Dimensional Gauged Sigma Models
We study soliton solutions in 1+1 dimensional gauged sigma models, obtained by dimensional reduction from its 2+1 dimensional counterparts. We show that the Bogomol’nyi bound of these models can be expressed in terms of two conserved charges in a similar way to that of the BPS dyons in 3 + 1 dimensions. Purely magnetic vortices of the 2+1 dimensional completely gauged sigma model appear as char...
متن کاملBARRIER PENETRATION IN 1 + 1 - DIMENSIONAL O ( n ) SIGMA MODELS
The O(n) nonlinear sigma model in 1 + 1 dimensions is examined as quantum mechanics on an infinite-dimensional configuration space. Two metrics are defined in this space. One of these metrics is the same as Feynman's distance, but we show his conclusions concerning potential energy versus distance from the classical vacuum are incorrect. The potential-energy functional is found to have barriers...
متن کامل3D loop models and the CP(n-1) sigma model.
Many statistical mechanics problems can be framed in terms of random curves; we consider a class of three-dimensional loop models that are prototypes for such ensembles. The models show transitions between phases with infinite loops and short-loop phases. We map them to CP(n-1) sigma models, where n is the loop fugacity. Using Monte Carlo simulations, we find continuous transitions for n=1, 2, ...
